    Experience

I worked for two years in the community with carers and their families and for six years in a drug and alcohol agency as a counsellor and group facilitator. During 15 years association with Oasis School of Human Relations I have had experience as a counsellor, developer and facilitator of courses & workshops.

I have worked in Community Education and for Leeds Metropoliton University as a tutor and developer of Counselling courses, and design/deliver workshops and training courses for agencies and organisations. Alongside this work I have been in Private Practice for the past 22 years working with young people, individuals, couples and families.

I have an ongoing interest in Eastern and other cultural approaches to healing and growth. I travel to India frequently and have a connection with Gorakhpur University where I have delivered a seminar on Determination and Freewill. During my time in India, I have explored ways of becoming more self/other aware (mindfulness being the popular word). The journey has led me to exploring ways to truth which has proved to be very informative to me and to clients. The old saying ‘The Truth Shall Set You Free’ has proved true to many.

I have a special interest in the role Emotional and Spiritual intelligence (EQ & SQ) plays in awareness and the development of our basic intelligences and continue to develop and integrate more effective ways of supporting clients.

I also work with people who have experienced a critical incident, offering support by phone (helpline) and face to face. This work has given me an opportunity to experience the process from the outset of an incident through to recovery. I now have 13 years experience (to 2020).

I am a member of The Harrogate Collaborative Family Law Pod and over the past 6 years have both learnt and played a creative part in the development of this supportive approach to separation/divorce. More couples are choosing the CLF approach for a number of reasons.
Firstly it encourages mediation, enabling agreements satisfactory to all concerned, enables child care agreements that are sustainable, saves couples/families from unneccessary stress and cost, emotionally, mentally and financially. Finally, the whole process takes place outside of a courtroom. I may be involved in this process as a counsellor or mediator.
